Our First German Christmas Market

Early last week, we found out about a trip to a local Christmas Market that Eric's unit was taking.  We don't have a car right now, so any opportunity to get out of our hotel we jump on.  The forecast was for cold, with a high of 20 F, so we bundled up the kids and headed for the bus.

Lauren all dressed up and ready to go

Upon arriving at the market, we headed straight for the Gluhwein, which is really good by the way.  While Eric and I were enjoying our warm drink, Dominic proceeded to take off both of his mittens and let his hands freeze.  We spent the next hour inside a toy store letting everybody defrost and convincing Dominic that the mittens would make his hands feel better.

Okay, so he doesn't have his mittens on in this picture,
but he was  trying to keep his hands in his pockets.
We walked around for a bit, checking out all of the cool things we could get at the market, eating at a local cafe and letting the kids go for a ride on the carousel.

Eric and I enjoyed a crepe while the kids froze on the carousel.
After wandering around a few more stores to try to get the kids warmed up again, and buying a few swords, we headed back to the bus to warm up.  We all fell asleep on the ride home and enjoyed a sword fight before bed.

We still don't have a car here, we're thinking about renting one next week, but we're exploring as much as possible.  We have since gotten winter boots, so hopefully next time we go out we won't be as cold.
